The PCME keeps this in mind and has different tiers of knowledge levels that are required to complete the certification.

Requirements to become PCME Certified

• Complete and pass Handheld Forensics - Level 1 or its approved equivalent**.
• Complete and pass Advanced Cell/SIM Card Forensics - Level 2.
• Complete and pass Cellular/GPS Signal Analysis - Level 3.
• Complete and pass a written examination with a proctor present.
• Complete and pass four practical applications of associated mobile devices.
• Six months of practical experience with devices that can be verified through written documents from a supervisor or equivalent.
• Recertification* required every 2 years from date of completion.
• Certification fee of $395.00 U.S. and $195.00 to renew every two years.
• All courses and tests must be passed at 85%.
